Think, compare, explain
Give students two different worked solutions to the same problem. Ask them to identify what is the same, explain the difference and choose which method they would use. Adapt the challenge by changing the numbers or providing a partially completed solution.
A concept in three forms
Ask learners to express an idea as a diagram, a short explanation and an example. Compare the three representations and discuss where each one is useful.
Teach the misconception
Present an anonymised or invented incorrect answer. Students identify the misconception, correct the reasoning and write a question that would reveal whether someone understands the concept.
An exit ticket with a next step
Ask one question about the core objective and one about confidence. Review responses to decide who needs a worked example, core practice or a more challenging task.
